Usability Testing

Usability testing is comprised of a set of tasks (scenarios) and questions conducted face-to-face with users. The aim is to find out how users interact with your current system.

The benefits of usability testing:

• It identifies usability issues that need to be rectified.
• It allows testers to watch people in action and then follow up with them to understand why they make errors.
• Provides rapid and objective feedback

How is usability testing conducted?

• Normally we will work with Business Users/Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain a better understanding of the system, it’s perceived usability issues and potential solutions.

• We familiarise ourselves with competitive or related products. This may provide insights for improvements to the system interface(s).

• We will create a test script and approx. 5 tasks (scenarios) for testing. 

• We will run this test with 5-10 different users, from different categories/business areas at the users’ workstation, so that we can observe exactly how they use the current system.
